A Legacy Reimagined

Built in 1903, the Dan River Company Office Building served as the executive offices of the textile giant Dan River Mills for many decades. Based in Danville with divisions across the nation, Dan River Mills was a prominent manufacturer that made fabric for clothes and apparel from 1882 until 2006, and the Company Office Building was central to Dan River’s operations.

About The Laurel Hotel

Designed by the acclaimed industrial architecture firm Lockwood, Greene & Company, the building is a striking example of Italian Renaissance Revival style, featuring Flemish-bond brickwork, arched windows with decorative keystones, and a terra-cotta hipped roof. As the strategic heart of Danville’s textile empire, it stood as a symbol of innovation and prosperity. Today, it is being thoughtfully transformed into The Laurel Hotel—honoring its rich past while offering guests a refined and timeless hospitality experience in the historic Schoolfield Village, just moments from the excitement of Caesars Virginia.
